The artisan is the one who knows and practices art. It represents the ability of creating harmony, in a right way.
Ars in Latin, techne’ in Greek; in both languages it meant the ability of creating, starting from the knowledge of secrets and rules. With these rules, it was possible to reform neatly a process of creation and construction. As told, in ancient times the artisan was the performer of art. Staff considers the artisan approach, the only way to work on the indigo land. The artisan’s knowledge comes from his experiences and from the wisdom transmitted by his masters (often in a family tradition). The relationship between an artisan, its tools and its materials, is sacrosanct. Through this relationship, the artisan sacrifices and gives a spiritual value to his work. In this ethical / spiritual approach to work, the opera of the artisan becomes art. Artisan’s tradition is handed down from father to son and lives in a magical circle characterized by passion and wisdom. The artisan tradition reflects the poetry of the places of its origins. And that’s how we intend our work in the name of indigo: we look for an harmonical relationship with the materials, we explore their nature and treat them to find their hidden soul. This is our way to celebrate the rule of art. This is the true desire of the artisan.
Art is the product of a brain that thinks and the hands that create. For many millenniums humanity has produced all their necessities through this system. The artisan mold through his hands from his creative soul to the material he has to transform. Every crafted piece is unique, the use of their hands has guaranteed until now most men to express in their craft their own talent, to access profit through the sacred process of their work and therefore protecting their own social dignity. Work done by hand has a timing and a rhythm in perfect harmony with the time nature needs to regenerate its own resources, in this way the artisan’s work and products are eco-sustainable. Manual work requires attention, deep knowhow and respect of the materials and the crafting processes so that the original idea can transform into reality according to the rules of art. Art intended as the qualitative peak of a craft, is the best expression of life and the existential mission of a man. The hands are the instrument and the strength through which art is manifested. Staff with “The Hands Power” project, want to make a tribute to the work and power of the hands and to the possibility that this way of working it gives us a chance to love and care more about the objects that we create.
